"OG-2"
NFS. In Private Collection.
The "OG-2" is the second guitar body I ever painted. It was in the 1980s, well before I started making a business selling my artwork. I was in my early 20s and at that time embarking on my career in exercise science and physical therapy, as exercise physiologist and physical therapist, respectively. It would be decades later when I would get this guitar body built into a fully functioning guitar.
It has an unusual configuration that has eluded most, if not all guitar geeks, including myself, being that it is a metal style body of unknown brand, make or model, which explains the circumstances in which I acquired the body. It was headed for the dumpster back in the 80s - maybe because only one of the two pickup cavities is fully routed to accept a pickup. Rather than drill it out any further, I left it as-is and made it into a one-pickup-wonder.
Additionally, and in contrast to the norm, the larger horn is the lower horn. But that it doesn't conform to the standard double-cut layout where the smaller horn gives the guitarist easy access to the higher frets, I kept its originality in-tact, just like I do in my own body! In every sense, this guitar is an original and I completed the setup for this curiously configured ambidextrous specimen with a convenient right-handed bolt-on neck. It is simplicity in its nature and with only one control (volume!) it satisfies its mission of being a high-fidelity performer. It is not for sale and remains part of my private collection.
OG-2 SPECS:
DiMarzio Evolution pickup in the bridge position. Floyd Rose tremolo bridge, black finish, along with one black matching barrel shaped knob to turn it up! Maple neck, Rosewood fretboard. Chrome Kluson tuners. The paint I used is acrylic underneath a phenomenal polyester clear-coat finish that is still completely flawless.
